Dushyant "Shawn" Makadia, PhD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (CA PSY36206)

Welcome!
I know reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating and vulnerable. My hope is to make that first step feel a little lighter, and to walk alongside you in a way that feels safe, meaningful, and ultimately rewarding. You can learn a little more about me below.

About Me
I became a psychologist because I’ve always been drawn to understanding people—our resilience, our struggles, and the ways we create meaning in the face of challenges. Becoming a psychologist felt like a natural extension of that calling. What continues to inspire me in this work is the privilege of being invited into someone’s inner world and walking alongside them as they face challenges, heal wounds, and discover new possibilities for themselves.

My passion for mental health stems from a genuine conviction that people deserve a safe space where they can be seen, heard, and supported without judgment. Life can feel heavy at times, and therapy can offer both relief and direction—whether it’s untangling long-standing patterns, finding healthier ways of relating, or simply learning how to breathe a little easier in the moment.
As a therapist, I bring curiosity, compassion, and a steady presence to the room. I enjoy weaving together evidence-based approaches with an emphasis on warmth, collaboration, genuineness, and humor. For me, therapy isn’t about fixing people—it’s about creating conditions where growth and change can naturally unfold.

Outside of my work, I find balance and joy in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, archery, traveling, riding motorcycles, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with loved ones. These pursuits keep me grounded and remind me—just like my clients—that life is always about learning, growing, playing, and finding new ways to live meaningfully.
